Motherson Electronic Components Private Limited (MECPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Samvardhana Motherson International Limited, has received a significant boost after being approved for incentives under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) framework. The approval comes under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), introduced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and marks a key milestone in Motherson’s expansion within the consumer electronics manufacturing space.

As part of the latest ECMS approvals, MECPL has been included among the selected beneficiaries for manufacturing enclosures used in consumer electronics. The development aligns closely with the Government’s “Make in India” vision and reinforces Motherson’s long-term commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities across high-value industrial segments.

The incentives will be applicable for a six-year period, starting from FY 26 through FY 31. During this investment window, MECPL expects to make a cumulative investment of nearly ₹1,900 crore. This capital deployment is aimed at expanding manufacturing capacity, adopting advanced production technologies, and building a robust ecosystem for electronics component manufacturing in India.

A major part of this expansion will take place at MECPL’s manufacturing facility in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Over the course of the incentive period, the company plans to generate more than 5,000 employment opportunities at this location, contributing significantly to regional economic development and skill creation in the electronics manufacturing sector.
