SBI Card, India’s largest pure-play credit card issuer, has announced the appointment of Ms. Salila Pande as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2025. With nearly three decades of experience at State Bank of India (SBI), Ms. Pande brings extensive leadership expertise to the role.
Before taking charge at SBI Card, Ms. Pande was the Chief General Manager of the Mumbai Metro Circle, where she led the retail business of SBI. She previously served as President & CEO of SBI California, where she successfully navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic while driving growth. Her global experience spans critical assignments, including leading SBI’s Risk Management function in Singapore and managing international banking operations.
Ms. Pande expressed excitement about leading SBI Card during a transformative period for India’s financial sector. She highlighted the growing adoption of digital payments, driven by a strong digital foundation and evolving demographics. Under her leadership, SBI Card aims to enhance customer experiences, fuel growth, and strengthen its market position.
A Gold Medalist in M.Sc. (Physics), Ms. Pande also holds financial certifications such as FRM and CAIIB. She has been a key member of the board of SBI California and has overseen several high-impact roles at SBI both domestically and internationally.
