RR Kabel Limited has announced a major capacity expansion initiative involving a total investment of approximately ₹1,450 crore to meet growing demand for its wire and cable products.

In a regulatory filing dated May 2, 2025, the company stated that the board has approved the expansion of manufacturing capacities at its existing Waghodia unit in Gujarat and at its upcoming new unit near Silvassa in Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

At the Waghodia plant, RR Kabel plans to increase its production capacity by 36,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA), in addition to the existing 67,200 MTPA. The capacity addition will be carried out in a phased manner and is expected to be completed by March 2028. The estimated investment for this expansion is around ₹1,050 crore, funded through internal accruals and debt.

Simultaneously, the company is also expanding at its new Silvassa unit, where the first phase of 12,000 MTPA is already underway and scheduled to be operational by March 2026. An additional 6,000 MTPA capacity will be added by December 2026, taking the total Silvassa capacity to 18,000 MTPA. The investment for both phases is pegged at approximately ₹400 crore.

Both expansions are aimed at catering to rising domestic and export demand. The company is currently operating at approximately 79% capacity utilisation at Waghodia.

The board meeting to approve the expansion plans was held on May 2 and concluded at 5:12 PM IST.
