GAIL (India) has recently informed exchanges that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the company’s Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant in Ranchi Jharkhand, virtually at a ceremony held in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi to mark Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024.
With a total investment of Rs 26 crore, the CBG plant facility is designed to transform the organic fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) into CBG. It has a 150 TPD feedstock processing capacity and a 5 TPD production capacity.
GAIL’s CBG Plant plans to make significant progress toward environmental and sustainable development goals, with an estimated reduction of 4,950 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions per year. Furthermore, the project is planned to replace roughly 2,171,052 Standard Cubic Meters (SCM) of natural gas each year, resulting in foreign exchange savings of around USD 840,093. This will go a long way toward improving the nation’s energy security and lowering import dependence.
