Praj Industries has been selected by Paraguay-based renewable energy company Enersur S.A. to support the development of a fully integrated Biorefinery Project. This collaboration marks a key milestone in Paraguay’s renewable energy expansion and aligns with the country’s goal of promoting clean energy and sustainable rural development.

The Biorefinery, to be developed in phases, will produce ethanol along with co-products such as distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), corn oil, biogas, biobitumen, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Santiago Peña Palacios, President of Paraguay, during his State Visit to India from June 2 to 4, 2025.

Praj’s engagement follows an earlier contract to design, supply, and commission a 600 m³/day Anhydrous Ethanol plant in Canindeyú, Paraguay. The facility will use corn as feedstock and is expected to be fully operational by October 2026. Praj’s scope includes process technology licensing, design and engineering, supply of core process equipment, and on-site supervision.

The initiative is expected to generate employment and boost economic activity in rural regions, contributing to Paraguay’s reduced dependence on fossil fuels. This project also reflects the strengthening of bilateral ties between India and Paraguay, with both nations emphasizing collaboration in renewable energy and agricultural technologies.

Praj Industries has a growing footprint in South America with over 100 project references, including in the USA, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and Peru.
