Setu by Pine Labs has unveiled India’s first agentic bill-payments experience, integrating directly with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude to simplify how consumers track and pay their monthly bills. The announcement was made through a press release dated December 9, 2025, filed by Pine Labs Limited with the stock exchanges.

According to the company, while paying a bill takes only a few minutes, the time spent monitoring multiple due dates, checking for errors, and keeping track of recurring charges is significantly higher. Setu’s new AI-powered agent is designed to eliminate this burden by handling the complete bill-management workflow.

What the agentic experience does

The AI assistant autonomously performs several tasks while staying within rules defined by the user:

  • Fetches all bills in real time
  • Flags unusual or incorrect charges by comparing with past trends
  • Processes payments safely using pre-blocked funds
  • Operates strictly within user-set limits and approvals
  • Tracks spending and provides insights to help users manage expenses better

The solution is built to be safe, controlled and fully transparent, ensuring the agent never pays an incorrect bill nor exceeds preset spending limits.

Leadership commentary

B. Amrish Rau, CEO of Pine Labs, said the launch addresses a long-standing gap in India’s digital ecosystem.
“India’s digital public infrastructure has transformed how we pay, but the work behind monthly bills has remained manual. This agentic experience brings automation and trust together, giving people a smarter, safer way to handle their bills.”

Rollout and availability

The experience is now live on ChatGPT and Claude, with additional AI platforms expected to be added in a phased rollout. Users can also view a demo video on Setu’s official blog.
