NTPC has announced that its subsidiary, THDC India Limited, has officially started commercial operations for Unit III of the Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP). The 250 MW unit, part of the larger 4×250 MW Tehri PSP project, was declared commercially operational at midnight on December 12, 2025, following successful commissioning and all necessary approvals.

This development marks another important milestone for THDC India’s expanding clean energy portfolio. With Unit III now online, the company’s total installed and commercial capacity has reached 3,657 MW.

The Tehri Pumped Storage Project plays a key role in strengthening grid stability, supporting renewable integration, and providing peak power management as India continues to scale up its energy transition efforts.
