NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat on October 9, 2025, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Mehsana. The agreement focuses on exploring opportunities across both conventional and non-conventional energy sectors in the state.

The MoU exchange took place in the presence of Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat; Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Cabinet Minister for New & Renewable Energy; Shri Kanubhai Desai, Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, Government of Gujarat; Shri Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC; along with other senior dignitaries.

With this collaboration, NTPC aims to further expand its footprint in Gujarat’s growing energy landscape by leveraging its expertise in clean and conventional power generation. NTPC currently has an installed capacity of over 83 GW, with an additional 30.90 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW of renewable energy capacity. The company has set an ambitious target to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, aligning with India’s Net Zero 2070 goals.

NTPC’s diverse portfolio includes thermal, hydro, solar, and wind projects, providing reliable and affordable electricity across the country. The company continues to adopt innovative technologies and sustainable practices to strengthen India’s clean energy transition.

In addition to power generation, NTPC has diversified into emerging sectors such as e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen. Through strategic partnerships like this MoU with Gujarat, NTPC aims to accelerate the development of next-generation energy solutions that drive economic growth and environmental sustainability.
