NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna company under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a 200 MW Wind Power Project from SJVN Limited. The project, awarded at a tariff of ₹3.74 per kWh on 28th February 2025, follows NLCIL’s success in an e-reverse auction held on 17th January 2025. This initiative is set to generate 526 million units (MU) of clean energy annually, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This achievement strengthens NLCIL’s position in India’s renewable energy sector, aligning with its vision to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The company’s renewable energy journey began in 2013 with a 51 MW wind project. With this new addition, NLCIL’s total wind power capacity will exceed 300 MW, marking a substantial expansion of its wind energy portfolio.

The project supports India’s National Green Energy Policy and the government’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. It underscores NLCIL’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and India’s energy transition goals.

Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman & Managing Director of NLCIL, expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “This is a proud moment for NLCIL as we continue to expand our renewable energy footprint in the country. Winning this 200 MW wind project further strengthens our commitment to sustainable and clean energy solutions. Our strategy aligns with India’s energy transition goals, and we are determined to contribute significantly to a greener future. NLCIL is making remarkable progress in expanding its renewable energy portfolio, ensuring a more sustainable future for generations to come. Our investments in renewable energy will play a crucial role in strengthening India’s green economy and meeting global climate commitments.”
