
NHPC Ltd. has announced the successful completion of the trial run for Unit#3 (200 MW) of its Parbati-II Hydroelectric (HE) Project in Himachal Pradesh on March 26, 2025. This marks a significant milestone in the project’s progress.
As per NHPC’s latest regulatory filing, the company had previously completed the trial run for Unit#2 (200 MW). With the successful testing of Unit#3, a total of 400 MW is now operational at the Parbati-II HE Project. The remaining two units, each with a capacity of 200 MW, are expected to complete their trial runs by March 31, 2025.
In the excvahgne filing, the company shared, “The trial run of Unit#3 (200 MW) of Parbati-II HE Project (4×200 MW), Himachal Pradesh has been successfully completed on 26.03.2025. Hence, trial run of 2 units i.e. Unit#2 & Unit#3 of 200 MW each has been completed. The trial run of balance 2 Units of Parbati-II HE Project is expected to be completed by 31.03.2025.”
The Parbati-II HE Project (4×200 MW) is a key initiative aimed at boosting hydroelectric power generation in India. Once fully operational, the project will contribute significantly to the country’s renewable energy capacity.
