NHPC Limited on Wednesday announced a key milestone in its flagship Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (2000 MW), confirming that test synchronization of the 250 MW Unit-2 has been successfully completed with the national grid on December 2, 2025 (evening).
In its regulatory filing, the company stated that the Commercial Operation Date (CoD) of Unit-2 is expected within December 2025, subject to final clearances and operational checks. NHPC added that further updates will be shared in due course as the commissioning process progresses.
The update comes as part of the company’s ongoing disclosures on the progress of the Subansiri Lower project, with earlier communications issued throughout 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The 2,000 MW project, located on the Subansiri River at the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border, is India’s largest under-construction hydropower project and is being commissioned in phases.
