One MobiKwik Systems Limited has issued an official statement confirming that an isolated technical issue on September 11–12, 2025, led to certain failed transactions being incorrectly marked as successful. This resulted in unauthorized payouts to a group of merchants in and around Nuh district of Haryana.
According to the company, some merchants and users exploited this error to gain undue financial benefit. The problem was identified in the early hours of September 12 and resolved within 45 minutes. MobiKwik stated that the total financial impact has been contained and quantified. An FIR has been filed, arrests have been made, and over 2,000 merchant bank accounts have been frozen as part of recovery efforts. A portion of the funds has already been recovered.
Importantly, MobiKwik clarified that the incident did not affect UPI or wallet payments, user account balances, or customer data. “This was not a cybersecurity breach but a limited internal processing error, now fully addressed,” the company emphasized. No banks or financial institutions were impacted.
The fintech player added that it has strengthened its monitoring systems and implemented additional control measures to avoid such incidents in the future. Reassuring customers, MobiKwik said its app remains “100% safe and secure for all digital payments”.
