Ministry of Defence signs Rs 13,500 crore contract with HAL for procurement of 12 Su-30MKI aircraft

The Ministry of Defence has recently signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on December 12, 2024, for the procurement of 12 Su-30MKI aircraft. The deal, valued at approximately ₹13,500 crore, including taxes and duties, was finalized on 12th December 2024. This contract is part of India’s ongoing efforts to enhance its defense capabilities under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aimed at achieving greater self-reliance in defense production.

The 12 Su-30MKI aircraft, renowned for their advanced combat capabilities, will be manufactured at HAL’s Nasik division. These aircraft are crucial to the Indian Air Force (IAF), strengthening India’s defense preparedness and improving operational readiness.
