Maruti Suzuki August Auto Sales: Total sales miss estimates, exports surge over 40%

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL) reported total sales of 1,80,683 units in August 2025, slightly below the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of 1.84 lakh units.

Total sales stood at 1.81 lakh units, down 0.6% YoY compared to 1.82 lakh units in August 2024.
Domestic sales (passenger vehicles + LCV) came in at 1.44 lakh units, down 7.1% YoY versus 1.55 lakh units last year, reflecting subdued demand across key passenger segments.
Exports, however, provided a strong cushion, rising 40.5% YoY to 36,538 units compared to 26,003 units a year earlier.

Segment-wise sales (August 2025 vs August 2024):

  • Mini + Compact cars (Alto, Swift, WagonR, Baleno, etc.): 66,450 units vs 68,699 units

  • Mid-size sedan (Ciaz): Nil vs 707 units

  • Utility vehicles (Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, etc.): 54,043 units vs 62,684 units

  • Vans (Eeco): 10,785 units vs 10,985 units

  • LCVs (Super Carry): 2,772 units vs 2,495 units

For the April–August FY26 period, MSIL clocked 8.89 lakh units in total sales, marginally higher than 8.78 lakh units in the same period last year.
