Manali Petrochemicals Ltd (MPL) announced the inauguration of its expanded propylene glycol (PG) facility at Plant II in Manali, Chennai, on July 16, 2025.
According to the company’s regulatory filing, the new state-of-the-art facility will begin operations after obtaining the Consent to Operate (CTO) from the Tamil Nadu State Pollution Control Board.
This expansion adds 50,000 tonnes per annum (KTPA) of production capacity to MPL’s existing PG capacity of 22,000 KTPA, effectively tripling its capacity to 72,000 KTPA.
The company noted that this milestone is part of its ongoing strategy to strengthen its position in the domestic and international PG markets by catering to rising demand in the pharmaceuticals, food, and personal care sectors, where PG is a critical ingredient.
The management expressed confidence that the expanded capacity will enhance MPL’s competitiveness, support import substitution, and improve its market share in the sector.
