LTIMindtree Limited has been awarded a significant ₹792 crore contract by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to develop and operate “PAN 2.0”, a next-generation digital platform to transform the Permanent Account Number (PAN) system in India. The announcement was made via a stock exchange filing on August 7, 2025.
The project, part of the Government of India’s broader Government-to-Citizen (G2C) digital transformation agenda, will integrate all PAN and TAN services into a unified, AI-powered digital ecosystem. The aim is to simplify how individuals and businesses access and manage their tax identity information.
Under the terms of the mandate, LTIMindtree will design, build, and manage the entire technology stack for PAN 2.0, including infrastructure, security, automation, and long-term operations. The project will involve AI-led deduplication and secure Aadhaar-linked integration, along with user-friendly features for application, validation, printing, and dispatch.
“This is a flagship opportunity to demonstrate how AI and technology can elevate the everyday experience of citizens,” said Venu Lambu, CEO and MD of LTIMindtree. “It strengthens our partnership with the Government of India and reflects our shared commitment to building a resilient, future-ready public digital infrastructure.”
The scope of work also includes establishing a dedicated Data Centre (DC), Disaster Recovery (DR) site, Network Operations Centre (NOC), Security Operations Centre (SOC), and on-site operational facilities at ITD premises. Additionally, LTIMindtree will set up a call centre, multilingual helpdesk, and grievance redressal system to enhance citizen support and service delivery.
The platform rollout is scheduled over the next 18 months, with the initiative expected to significantly enhance the transparency, security, and efficiency of India’s tax identity services.
