Engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Thursday announced that it has secured a significant contract from Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), a Vedanta Group company, for a large-scale engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project. The project is part of HZL’s expansion plans and will involve the establishment of a 250 KTPA Leaching, Purification & Cellhouse facility, along with a 125 KTPA Jarosite Circuit at the Debari Smelter Complex in Rajasthan.
The facility will produce high-purity Special High Grade Zinc Cathodes (99.995% Zn), marking another step in HZL’s capacity augmentation strategy. The project will be executed on an EPC basis, covering design, procurement, construction, and complete site services such as installation and commissioning of Calcine Storage, Leaching, and Electrowinning facilities. Additional infrastructure such as utilities, automation systems, ETP RO-ZLD, and instrumentation are also included in the scope.
Commenting on the development, Mr. T Kumarsenan, Senior Vice President & Head – Minerals & Metals at L&T, said, “This win reaffirms L&T’s leadership in the Minerals & Metals sector and underscores our commitment to delivering excellence that ensures customer satisfaction.”
This order further strengthens L&T’s nearly three-decade-long partnership with Hindustan Zinc in building and upgrading zinc production capabilities.
