Larsen & Toubro has entered into a strategic partnership with France-based Exail to deliver an advanced Unmanned Mine Counter-Measure (MCM) Suite for the Indian Navy’s upcoming Mine Counter Measure Vessels (MCMVs) programme.
Under the collaboration, L&T and Exail will jointly provide the Indian Navy with a next-generation unmanned MCM solution equipped with autonomous and remotely operated systems capable of detecting, classifying, identifying and neutralising naval mines through safe stand-off operations.
L&T will act as the prime contractor and offer the Unmanned MCM Suite to shipyards participating in the Indian Navy’s proposed programme for 12 Mine Counter Measure Vessels, while Exail will serve as the technology partner.
The partnership will bring Exail’s globally proven mine countermeasure technologies to India. The systems are already operational with several international navies and have been validated through multiple real-world deployments.
The collaboration is expected to significantly strengthen India’s naval mine countermeasure capabilities and maritime security preparedness, while also deepening Indo-French defence cooperation.
The programme is aligned with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, with a strong focus on local manufacturing, industrial collaboration and capability development within India’s defence ecosystem.
