Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, L&T Energy Green Tech Limited (LTEGL), has entered into a strategic partnership with Belgium-based John Cockerill Energy. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 24, 2025, aimed at exploring and developing concentrated solar power (CSP) and thermal energy storage (TES) technologies.
LTEGL, a key player in L&T’s green energy portfolio, focuses on solutions across green hydrogen, electrolyser manufacturing, and sustainable energy projects. The collaboration with John Cockerill, which brings over 200 years of experience in energy and industrial solutions, is expected to strengthen India’s push towards a low-carbon future.
The MoU outlines collaboration across manufacturing, component supply, and engineering services essential for deploying CSP and TES projects. These technologies are critical for ensuring round-the-clock availability of renewable power.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Subramanian Sarma, Whole-time Director & President (Energy), L&T, emphasized the company’s commitment to accelerating next-gen green energy adoption. Mr. Thomas Bohner, CEO of John Cockerill Energy, highlighted that the partnership would support India’s sustainable manufacturing goals through cutting-edge CSP and TES technologies.
The companies will leverage L&T’s EPC and manufacturing capabilities and John Cockerill’s global experience to bring reliable, dispatchable renewable energy solutions to India and beyond.
This collaboration is expected to create new opportunities in India’s growing renewable energy sector, especially for industrial-scale clean energy deployment.
