Larsen & Toubro on Friday announced that its Minerals & Metals (M&M) business vertical has secured major orders with a value ranging between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore, strengthening its order book at the start of 2026. The orders have been received from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and other domestic customers, according to the company’s exchange filing .

As part of SAIL’s modernisation and expansion programme, L&T has been awarded the complete engineering, procurement and installation (EPI) package for critical process plants at the IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur, West Bengal, where crude steel capacity is being expanded from 2.5 MTPA to 6.5 MTPA. The scope of work includes key facilities such as a Coke Oven Battery, By-Product Plant, Basic Oxygen Furnace, along with specialised material handling systems, which together form the core of the new steel complex.

In addition, L&T has secured a package for setting up Sinter Plant #2 at SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand, supporting the plant’s upstream capacity expansion. The M&M business has also received multiple orders for specialised material handling equipment, including stacker reclaimers and wagon tipplers, from various clients across India.

Commenting on the order wins, L&T said its long-standing association with SAIL continues to play a pivotal role in advancing India’s steel manufacturing ecosystem through capacity augmentation and sustainable development. The company highlighted that these projects reinforce its capabilities in executing large, complex and technology-intensive metallurgical projects under challenging timelines.

Under L&T’s internal classification, a “major” order carries a value between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore, underscoring the scale and significance of the contracts secured by the Minerals & Metals business.
