Shares of Larsen & Toubro Ltd. will be in focus after the company announced a strategic partnership with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to support India’s ambitious Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.

The consortium will respond to the Expression of Interest floated by the Aeronautical Development Agency in the coming weeks. The collaboration aims to combine L&T’s strengths in strategic defence and aerospace platforms with BEL’s expertise in defence electronics and systems, thereby contributing to the development of India’s 5th-generation fighter aircraft.

The move aligns with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by promoting self-reliance in defence technology. Both companies have a proven track record, having contributed to the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme with aero-structure modules, mission-critical avionics, and electronic systems.

Commenting on the partnership, S. N. Subrahmanyan, CMD of L&T, said the collaboration marks a “significant leap in modernising India’s defence capabilities.” Manoj Jain, CMD of BEL, added that the AMCA project reflects “India’s growing capabilities in defence technology” and that the joint effort would deliver a world-class solution for the Indian Air Force.

L&T, with a market presence across EPC projects, hi-tech manufacturing, and services, operates with revenues of USD 30 billion globally. BEL, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence, reported sales of INR 23,024 crore in FY25 and remains a key player in radars, electronic warfare, and avionics systems.
