Kings Infra Ventures Ltd has welcomed the launch of the 5th Marine Fisheries Census 2025, calling it a transformative step for India’s seafood and aquaculture industry. The nationwide initiative, scheduled from November to December 2025, will digitally map the country’s marine fisheries ecosystem as part of efforts to strengthen India’s blue economy mission.
The census will cover more than 1.2 million fisher households across over 3,500 coastal villages using geo-tagged mobile applications, satellite data, and AI-enabled analytics. The large-scale exercise will be jointly conducted by ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Fisheries Survey of India (FSI) and the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, with support from the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
In a statement, Kings Infra Chairman and Managing Director Shaji Baby John said that the digital census will enhance traceability, quality assurance, and global credibility for Indian seafood. He added that the initiative aligns with India’s vision of strengthening the blue economy and supporting coastal livelihoods under the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat framework.
John also highlighted that this marks the first-ever fully digital and geo-referenced marine fisheries census in the country, adding that Kings Infra remains committed to contributing to India’s global seafood leadership through sustainable sourcing and enhanced international market access.
The census findings are expected to support policies on sustainable fishing, coastal community development, infrastructure planning, disease prevention and improving market access for Indian seafood exporters.
Kings Infra operates across aquaculture production, processing, retail and export channels.
