Kings Infra Ventures Limited has welcomed the recent proposals announced by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to support the aquaculture sector, which has been hit hard by US tariffs on shrimp imports.

The package includes a 240-day moratorium on loan repayments, interest subsidies, GST waiver on frozen shrimp, reduction in shrimp feed costs, lower electricity charges, creation of a Rs 100 crore corpus fund, and development of cold storage and logistics infrastructure. These measures are expected to provide critical relief to aquafarmers and exporters in the state.

Andhra Pradesh accounts for more than 2.1 lakh hectares under aquaculture and supports the livelihoods of over 20 lakh people. The state contributes over 70% of India’s shrimp exports, making such interventions vital to protect farmer incomes and maintain India’s global competitiveness.

Sreeram Inagalla, COO – International Business at Kings Infra, described the proposals as a “lifeline for the aquaculture sector,” while Chairman and Managing Director Shaji Baby John emphasized the company’s commitment to building a sustainable aquaculture ecosystem through technology-driven solutions, cluster development, and its farm-to-fork integration strategy.

Kings Infra recently expanded into Andhra Pradesh through the integration of Sri Aqua, focusing on shrimp farming clusters, processing, and value-added seafood partnerships. The company said it remains committed to supporting farmers and called on the Centre and other maritime states to extend similar measures.
