JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 23.66 lakh tonnes for February 2026, according to a company press release filed with stock exchanges on Tuesday.

The company said production during the month was slightly lower compared with the same period last year due to an ongoing capacity upgrade at one of its major facilities.

Production performance

Crude steel production from Indian operations stood at 23.06 lakh tonnes in February 2026, compared with 23.32 lakh tonnes in February 2025, reflecting a 1% year-on-year decline.

Production at JSW Steel USA – Ohio operations came in at 0.60 lakh tonnes, down from 0.75 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period last year, representing a 20% decline year-on-year.

Overall, consolidated crude steel production declined slightly to 23.66 lakh tonnes, compared with 24.07 lakh tonnes recorded in February 2025, marking a 2% year-on-year decrease.

Capacity upgrade impacting output

The company said Blast Furnace-3 (BF3) at the Vijayanagar plant has been under shutdown since September 2025 for capacity upgradation, which impacted production levels at its Indian operations.

However, excluding the BF3 base from last year’s production comparison, the company noted that volumes grew around 8% year-on-year, supported by the full ramp-up of JVML operations.

Capacity utilisation for Indian operations during February stood at around 97% excluding BF3 capacity, while including BF3 capacity utilisation was about 88%, according to the company.

Impact on overseas operations

Production at the company’s Ohio facility in the United States was also affected due to the ramp-up of operations following caster upgrades in January 2026, along with extreme winter storm conditions, which led to lower output during the month.
