JSW Steel has announced its consolidated crude steel production for November 2024 at 23.23 lakh tonnes, marking a 5% growth compared to 22.04 lakh tonnes in November 2023. This growth underscores the company’s continued focus on operational efficiency and demand-driven production in its domestic and international markets.
JSW Steel’s Indian operations recorded a production of 22.53 lakh tonnes, reflecting a strong 7% year-on-year increase compared to 21.14 lakh tonnes in the same period last year. This robust performance highlights the company’s ability to optimize capacity utilization and maintain a steady output to cater to the growing demand for steel across various sectors. Capacity utilization at Indian facilities for November 2024 stood at an impressive 94%, showcasing efficiency and resilience in operations.
JSW Steel’s USA-based operations, however, reported a decline in production, with crude steel output from its Ohio facility at 0.7 lakh tonnes compared to 0.9 lakh tonnes in November 2023. The decline reflects challenges in international markets, which the company continues to address through strategic interventions and operational improvements.
JSW Steel remains focused on scaling its operations further, with plans to increase its total production capacity from the current 35.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 43.5 MTPA by September 2027. This includes the commissioning of an additional 5 MTPA capacity in India, which will reinforce its position as a leading player in the global steel industry. The flagship plant at Vijayanagar, Karnataka, remains the largest single-location steel-producing facility in India, with an existing capacity of 17.5 MTPA.
JSW Steel’s efforts in research and innovation have kept it at the forefront of the global steel industry. Through strategic collaborations, such as its partnership with JFE Steel of Japan, JSW has access to state-of-the-art technologies that enhance its ability to produce high-value special steel products. These products cater to industries such as construction, infrastructure, automobile, and electrical applications.
The company continues to receive recognition for its commitment to sustainability. It has been consistently included in the World Steel Association’s Steel Sustainability Champion list and the Dow Jones Emerging Markets Sustainability Index. These accolades reflect JSW’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact and contributing to sustainable industrial practices.
