JSW Cement, part of the diversified US$23 billion JSW Group, has commissioned a state-of-the-art cement grinding unit in Sambalpur, Odisha, through its subsidiary Shiva Cement. This strategic move aims to strengthen the company’s market presence in eastern India and meet the growing regional demand for cement.
The new facility, funded and supervised by Shiva Cement, operates under a commercial arrangement with Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL) and has a production capacity of 1.0 million tons per annum (MTPA), exclusively for Shiva Cement’s consumption. With this addition, JSW Cement’s total installed capacity, including subsidiaries, has increased to 21.6 MTPA.
Shiva Cement’s manufacturing facility is strategically located at the border of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, offering easy access to key raw materials for cement production.
JSW Cement continues to advance its nationwide expansion plan, targeting a total grinding capacity of 41.85 MTPA and clinker capacity of 13.04 MTPA. The company’s Nagaur integrated unit in Rajasthan, featuring 3.30 MTPA clinker capacity and 3.5 MTPA grinding capacity, is on track for timely commissioning.
Notably, JSW Cement maintains the lowest carbon dioxide emission intensity in the industry, recording 277 kg CO2 per ton of cementitious materials in Q1 FY26, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible operations.
