John Cockerill India Limited has been awarded a prestigious contract by JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik Private Limited, one of India’s pioneering manufacturers of Cold Rolled Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel (CRGO). The project involves the engineering, design, manufacture, and supply of advanced tunnel furnaces for the Nashik facility, with supervision of erection and commissioning to meet contractual performance guarantees. The project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.

As part of the contract, John Cockerill India will deliver all key components for the tunnel furnaces, including state-of-the-art coil handling systems, ensuring smooth installation and optimal operational performance.

The tunnel furnace plays a crucial role in processing Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel (GOES). During this stage, the steel undergoes controlled high-temperature heating under a protective atmosphere, enhancing its magnetic properties and microstructure. This makes GOES ideal for high-efficiency power transformers and other critical components in power transmission and energy infrastructure.

This order is a key part of JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik’s expansion plans, which aim to increase CRGO production capacity fivefold, from 50,000 TPA to 250,000 TPA, meeting India’s growing demand for energy-efficient electrical infrastructure.

With this contract, John Cockerill India continues to solidify its reputation as a trusted technology partner in the steel industry, delivering advanced, high-performance solutions that drive growth and innovation.
