JBM Auto’s subsidiary awarded Rs 5,500 crore tender for 1,021 electric buses under PM-eBus Sewa Scheme

JBM Auto Limited, a leading manufacturer in the Indian automotive sector, has secured a landmark contract through its subsidiary JBM Ecolife Mobility, which has been awarded a ₹5,500 crore tender. This major contract is for the supply of 1,021 electric buses and the development of corresponding electric and civil infrastructure as part of the government’s PM-eBus Sewa Scheme (Tender-II). The project is expected to have a significant impact on India’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable urban mobility.

The electric buses will be deployed across 19 cities in key states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana. The deployment will contribute to the government’s ambitious vision to enhance the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in public transport systems. This contract marks a pivotal moment for JBM Auto, reinforcing its leadership role in India’s electric vehicle market. The company has long been committed to advancing e-mobility, and this award adds to the growing number of orders it has received, bringing its electric bus order book to more than 11,000 units in various stages of execution. This includes buses being delivered to different regions and municipalities across India, with the overall goal of reducing carbon emissions and contributing to cleaner urban environments.

The 1,021 electric buses in this latest project will feature state-of-the-art technology and are projected to make a significant environmental impact. According to estimates, these buses are expected to save over 1 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions over their 12-year operational life, offering a cleaner and greener alternative to traditional diesel-run buses. Additionally, the deployment will result in over 32 billion passenger e-kilometers, which reflects the scalability of this project and its potential to transform India’s public transport system. This significant achievement is also in line with JBM Auto’s commitment to reaching its Net Zero 2040 goal.
