Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited has announced that its Board of Directors, in a meeting held on 27th August 2025, has approved a proposal to explore the possibility of setting up a 50 MW Solar PV Power Plant at the company’s existing Jaypee Bina Thermal Power Plant (JBTTP) site in Bina, Madhya Pradesh.

The proposed solar project will come up alongside the company’s existing 500 MW thermal power project at Bina. According to the filing, the development will involve an estimated investment of around ₹300 crore and will be subject to requisite approvals, including those from lenders.

The move highlights Jaiprakash Power’s strategic push towards renewable energy adoption while leveraging its existing infrastructure at the Bina thermal site. With India focusing on clean energy expansion and reducing carbon footprints, this initiative aligns with the broader national agenda of increasing renewable power capacity.

The project, once approved and executed, is expected to enhance the company’s green energy portfolio, improve sustainability credentials, and reduce dependence on conventional sources of power generation.

Jaiprakash Power has been actively exploring avenues in the renewable sector, and the proposed 50 MW solar PV plant at Bina could mark a significant step in its transition towards a balanced energy mix.
