Jain Irrigation has announced a breakthrough in coffee production with the launch of seven high-yielding tissue culture varieties of Robustas and Arabicas coffee. Developed over a decade, these varieties have been licensed by the Coffee Board of India for commercial production and sale. This innovation addresses the Indian coffee sector’s challenges of aging plantations and lack of quality planting material.

Tissue-cultured coffee plants offer advantages such as disease-free, genetically uniform, and high-yielding varieties, poised to reshape the coffee industry. Jain Irrigation’s Managing Director, Ajit Jain, said, “We’re proud to introduce elite coffee, bringing prosperity to Indian coffee farmers and putting Indian coffee on the global map.”

The Coffee Board of India has signed an MoU with Jain Irrigation, allowing the company to multiply and sell the identified coffee plants to growers while paying a royalty to the Board. Jain’s tissue cultured coffee plants are designed for high yield, excellent cup quality, and balanced canopy architecture, performing optimally with Jain Precision Farming Packages. This innovation aims to deliver prosperity to farmers, aligning with Jain’s commitment to serving farmers and making the world a better place.
