Izmo Ltd shares are likely to be in focus today after the company announced a strategic partnership between its wholly owned subsidiary, izmo Microsystems, and IIT Madras. The collaboration aims to develop cutting-edge photonic chip packaging solutions under the Centre for Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits and Systems (CPPICS), a Center of Excellence established in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras.
Backed by seed funding of Rs 2,665 lakh from MeitY and Rs 325 lakh in-kind support from izmo Microsystems, the partnership will focus on designing and developing programmable photonic processor cores using silicon photonics technology. These processors are expected to serve advanced applications in microwave and quantum photonics.
The global silicon photonics market is poised to reach $4.6 billion by 2027, with demand driven by high-speed data transmission requirements in data centers, AI computing, and quantum technologies. izmo Microsystems’ expertise in System-in-Package (SiP) solutions will support high-performance chip packaging with precision integration for optical, RF, and microelectronic components.
Dinanath Soni, Head of izmo Microsystems, said the collaboration marks a leap in photonic integration and underscores the company’s commitment to innovation in the semiconductor and photonics ecosystem.
