ITI Limited, a premier telecom manufacturing company, has been awarded a ₹95 crore contract by the Directorate of Geology & Mining, Government of Uttarakhand. The project focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining a Mining Digital Transformation & Surveillance System (MDTSS) in the state.

The initiative aims to curb illegal mining and mineral transportation while increasing government revenue. Under the agreement, ITI Limited will establish surveillance systems at 40 check gates across the Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar districts. These gates will have advanced technologies, including bullet cameras, RFID radars, and LED floodlights.

A central Mining State Control Centre (MSCC) will be set up in Dehradun, complemented by district-level command centers. Dehradun will host eight check gates, Haridwar thirteen, Nainital ten, and Udham Singh Nagar nine.

Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited, expressed satisfaction over the partnership, highlighting its potential to mitigate illegal mining’s ecological and economic consequences. “Illegal mining can lead to deforestation, soil erosion, water pollution, and significant revenue losses for governments. We are elated to assist state governments in addressing such pressing issues,” he stated.

The company recently achieved another milestone as the lowest bidder for packages in the BharatNet Phase-3 Project, valued at ₹4,559 crores, involving states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Himachal Pradesh.
