Infosys Foundation, the CSR arm of Infosys, has launched its ‘Month of Gracious Giving’ initiative this September, kicking it off with a record-setting volunteering event. Over 200,000 seedballs were made in just one hour by Infosys employees as part of a large-scale effort to support reforestation across India. These seedballs, containing seeds of native plants like Neem, Tamarind, Sandalwood, Teak, and Mahogany, will be distributed to over 20 locations, including Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru, Utkalmani Gopalbandhu Ashram Grounds in Bhubaneswar, and the Yeoor Hills in Mumbai, to aid in restoring biodiversity and local ecosystems.
The event marks the start of a month-long series of employee-driven volunteering activities focused on community engagement, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility. Infosys Foundation’s Trustee, Shaji Mathew, emphasized that the initiative exemplifies the company’s commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and local communities.
Neelam Kapoor, Head of Wonder Book of Records, recognized Infosys Foundation’s leadership in sustainability, highlighting the importance of the seedball initiative as a step toward a greener future. Through efforts like this, Infosys continues its long-standing dedication to environmental conservation, having already planted over a million trees across its development centers, including 500,000 trees at its Mangalore SEZ campus.
