The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts with ACE Ltd and JCB India Ltd for the procurement of 1,868 Rough Terrain Fork Lift Trucks (RTFLT) at a total cost of Rs 697.35 crore. The agreement, signed in the presence of Defence Secretary R K Singh, aims to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy.
The RTFLT will play a crucial role in combat and logistics support, reducing manual handling of heavy stores and streamlining military operations. The procurement falls under the ‘Buy (Indian)’ category, supporting domestic defence manufacturing and contributing to India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
This project is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly benefiting the MSME sector through component manufacturing.
