Earlier today, a report in media stated Sandeep Bakshi of ICICI has indicated that he will be stepping down from Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank, citing three people, who are familiar with the matter. The report also claimed that one of the sources had said, “He has some personal emergency. That is why he wants to step down.”

However, ICICI Bank has issued a statement categorically denying the information published in the article regarding it’s MD’s alleged willingness to leave his position. The bank stated that the information is baseless and claimed that a rumor is being spread with an ulterior motive and malicious intent to harm the bank and its stakeholders.

Bakshi has been with ICICI Group for 36 years and has handled various assignments across the group in ICICI Limited, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, ICICI Bank and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance.

He has been appointed as the bank’s MD and CEO since October 15, 2018, and was approved for re-appointment by Reserve Bank of India in October 2023, for another three years, which allows him to remain at the post till October 3rd, 2016.
