Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) on 24 November 2025 in New Delhi. The collaboration is aimed at deepening cooperation between the two institutions to enhance urban infrastructure development, research, and capacity building across India.
The MoU sets the groundwork for joint initiatives in areas related to urban planning, infrastructure investment, and HUDCO’s Urban Invest Window (UiWIN). Both organisations intend to work together on designing programmes that support sustainable and efficient urban development. This includes developing thematic projects, organising training programmes, and hosting seminars, conferences, and workshops to build sectoral capacity.
The partnership also opens opportunities for conducting research, monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessments in key urban development areas. As part of the broader vision, HUDCO and NIUA will also explore collaborations with multilateral funding agencies and other financing avenues that can support large-scale urban development projects.
The MoU is valid for five years and provides a non-binding framework to guide future cooperation. While the document outlines shared intent, individual projects will be governed by separate agreements that specify the scope of work, timelines, financial responsibilities, and deliverables. Both institutions have agreed to prepare detailed Terms of Reference for each initiative to ensure clarity and smooth execution.
