Hind Rectifiers Ltd has commenced commercial production of highly specialised copper conductors at its Sinnar manufacturing facility, marking the completion of a key backward integration project. According to the company, the project, focused on critical conductor manufacturing for traction transformers, involved a capital expenditure of approximately Rs 56 crore funded through a mix of internal accruals and term loans .
The production line will manufacture Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC), Enamelled Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (EPICC), and Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (PICC), which are essential components in traction transformer systems used by the railway sector. By moving to in-house production, Hind Rectifiers aims to streamline its supply chain, reduce raw material dependence, and ensure timely delivery to customers, including Indian Railways.
The company said the initiative will improve efficiency and margins by avoiding penalties previously incurred due to material shortages and delays. Hind Rectifiers also highlighted export potential for these specialised copper conductors and aims to supply not only its captive requirements but also to transformer manufacturers globally .
Commenting on the development, Chairman & Managing Director Suramya Nevatia said the new vertical positions the company to meet rising demand and enhance long-term competitiveness through improved profitability and operational control.
The company, established in 1958, operates two manufacturing plants in Nashik and Bhandup and serves power, defence, railways, and industrial segments across over 30 countries.
