Hi-Tech Pipes Limited has taken a major step forward in its growth journey with the commencement of commercial production at its greenfield manufacturing facility in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. The new plant marks a significant milestone for the company as it moves closer to achieving its ambitious target of 1 million tonnes of installed manufacturing capacity, strengthening its position among India’s fastest-growing steel tube and pipe manufacturers.
The Kathua facility has an installed capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum and is designed to manufacture ERW steel pipes, coated pipes, and other value-added steel products. Built with modern manufacturing infrastructure, the plant features enhanced automation and robust quality-control systems. These capabilities enable Hi-Tech Pipes to meet stringent customer specifications while aligning with evolving domestic and global industry standards.
Strategically located in Jammu, the Kathua unit offers clear logistical and operational advantages. Its location allows the company to efficiently and cost-effectively serve customers across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The plant is well positioned to cater to rising demand from key end-use sectors such as infrastructure development, construction, water distribution, fabrication, industrial projects, and a wide range of engineering applications.
The commissioning of the Kathua greenfield plant closely aligns with Hi-Tech Pipes’ long-term strategy of increasing the share of value-added products in its overall sales mix. With a stronger focus on coated and specialized steel offerings, the company expects to benefit from an improved product mix, better realizations, and stronger EBITDA per tonne over the medium to long term. Management has indicated that the newly commissioned capacity is expected to start contributing meaningfully from the middle of Q4 FY26 onwards, supporting both volume growth and profitability.
The Jammu expansion further underlines Hi-Tech Pipes’ vision of building a future-ready, scalable, and efficient manufacturing platform.
