The Indian government is set to convene a three-day high-level meeting with officials from Indian missions across 20 nations, starting from January 6, to strategize on enhancing India’s export performance. The meeting, led by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, will focus on devising comprehensive measures to address export challenges and tap into global markets.
Officials from countries such as the US, UK, China, South Korea, Australia, France, Japan, and Singapore, among others, will participate in the discussions. The agenda includes boosting exports in six critical sectors, including engineering goods and electronics.
Key areas of discussion will include improving logistics, advancing market access, addressing World Trade Organization (WTO)-related issues, and eliminating non-tariff barriers. These measures are aimed at enhancing India’s global trade competitiveness and fostering smoother export flows.
This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to surpass $800 billion in exports in the current fiscal year. In the previous year, India achieved a record $778 billion in exports, highlighting its growing presence in international markets. The government remains committed to accelerating this momentum through targeted strategies and international collaborations.
