Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited has taken a major step to expand its ammonium nitrate footprint in India by awarding a contract worth about ₹360 crore to Toyo Engineering India Private Limited. The contract covers the supply of a new Ammonium Nitrate-II plant on a LEPC (Licensing, Engineering, Procurement and Construction) basis.
The project follows the approval granted by the board of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited in its meeting held on November 12, 2025, for the installation of an Ammonium Nitrate-II plant with a capacity of 480 metric tonnes per day, translating into an annual capacity of around 1,63,200 metric tonnes. The execution period for the project is 20 months.
As part of the arrangement, Toyo Engineering India has tied up with INCRO S.A., Spain, for the supply of process know-how and licensing for the Ammonium Nitrate-II plant. The use of INCRO technology is expected to support efficient operations while aligning with environmental and safety standards.
GNFC is already operating an ammonium nitrate facility, and the addition of this new plant is expected to significantly strengthen its production base. Once commissioned, the Ammonium Nitrate-II plant is projected to enhance GNFC’s ammonium nitrate capacity by nearly 94%, helping the company meet rising domestic demand, particularly from downstream industries.
The company has indicated that the expansion aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative, with a focus on reducing import dependence and supporting domestic manufacturing. GNFC has also reiterated its commitment to environmental conservation as part of the project’s execution and long-term operations.
There is no promoter or promoter group interest involved in Toyo Engineering India, and the transaction does not fall under related-party dealings.
