GMR Airports released its operational update for August 2025 and YTD FY26, showing a 3.5% year-on-year decline in passenger traffic for August, even as overall traffic for the first five months of FY26 inched up by 0.5% compared to last year.

Passenger traffic trends

  • Delhi Airport handled 59.24 lakh passengers in August, down 7.3% YoY, impacted by temporary disruptions due to the ongoing Runway 10/28 upgradation. YTD FY26 traffic stood at 3.08 crore, 4% lower than last year.

  • Hyderabad Airport was the standout performer, recording 24.70 lakh passengers, up 4.8% YoY in August. For YTD FY26, Hyderabad posted 12.99 crore passengers, up 12.7% YoY — its highest-ever levels.

  • Mopa (Goa) Airport registered 3.78 lakh passengers in August (+3.5% YoY) and 1.97 crore in YTD FY26 (+6.4% YoY).

  • Medan (Indonesia) saw marginal growth in August with 5.75 lakh passengers (+0.9% YoY), though YTD FY26 remained 2.1% lower at 2.99 crore.

  • Cebu (Philippines) traffic fell 4% YoY in August, to 9.41 lakh, with YTD FY26 showing a 1.2% dip.

Overall, excluding Cebu, passenger traffic stood at 93.49 lakh in August 2025, compared to 96.86 lakh in August 2024.

Aircraft movements

Aircraft movements across GMR Airports also fell 4.2% YoY in August, totaling 58,813.

  • Delhi (-9%), Medan (-0.2%), and Cebu (-8.1%) reported declines.

  • Hyderabad (+4.8%) and Mopa (+3.4%) saw positive traction.

Key highlights from GMR

  • Resilient traffic: Over 48.7 million passengers handled in YTD FY26, up 0.5% YoY, supported by flat domestic traffic and 2.8% growth in international traffic.

  • Sustainable momentum: Pax traffic consistently in the range of 9–10 million every month since Jan 2024.

  • Upcoming boost: Delhi’s Runway 10/28 is set to reopen on September 16, 2025, with refurbished Terminal 2 expected to be operational by October 2025.

  • Hyderabad milestones: Crossed 10 million domestic passengers in YTD FY26; achieved highest-ever passenger traffic and aircraft movements handled.

Outlook

Despite short-term disruptions at Delhi and supply-side constraints at Medan, GMR Airports expects overall traffic to maintain its positive trajectory in FY26, supported by infrastructure upgrades, capacity additions, and international connectivity.
