Genesys International Corporation has announced that its Digital Twin Map platform for the city of Varanasi has been honoured with the prestigious GovConnect Award, marking a significant achievement in India’s evolution toward advanced spatial governance technologies.
The company’s New India Map Stack—which powers the Digital Twin—has been recognised for its transformative role in improving governance efficiency, infrastructure planning, disaster preparedness, and citizen service delivery in one of India’s oldest and most complex urban ecosystems.
City leadership praises integration of spatial intelligence
Himanshu Nagpal, Municipal Commissioner of Varanasi, commended the implementation, stating that the platform “will herald a new approach and standard of e-governance using spatial intelligence.” He emphasised that every urban local body could benefit from such a system, reinforcing the importance of real-time spatial data in city management.
Genesys highlights India’s growing mapping capabilities
Genesys CMD Sajid Malik described the award as validation of India’s rise in world-class mapping technology. He highlighted that Genesys is the country’s only company offering a complete map stack, covering geometric digital twins to predictive systems that combine live and historical data.
A technologically advanced digital twin
The Varanasi Digital Twin integrates:
- 5-cm accuracy 3D city model
- LiDAR-based mapping
- Live sensor feeds and temporal datasets
- Navigation base maps
- 2,500+ CCTV camera integrations, supporting crowd management during pilgrimage and cultural events
Given the city’s proximity to the Ganga and its flood-prone topography, the system also supports disaster modelling, predictive flood simulations, and real-time risk assessment. Infrastructure tracking has been accelerated as well, aiding execution in a city known for its historical density and urban complexity.
Strengthening India’s leadership in digital twin technology
Genesys noted that adoption of its platform is increasing across sectors including urban governance, transportation, mobility, and infrastructure agencies. The company sees this milestone as another step in reinforcing India’s global leadership in next-generation digital twin mapping capabilities.
