The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping), India’s leading private sector shipping company, has announced the sale of its 2005-built Suezmax crude oil tanker, Jag Lok, to an unaffiliated third-party buyer. The tanker, with a capacity of approximately 158,280 deadweight tonnage (dwt), is scheduled for delivery by the third quarter of FY26. This transaction is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to optimize its fleet by balancing the sale of older vessels with the acquisition of newer ships.
With the sale of Jag Lok, G E Shipping’s fleet currently comprises 38 vessels with a total capacity of 3.04 million dwt. The fleet includes 26 tankers, consisting of five crude tankers, seventeen product tankers, and four LPG carriers, along with twelve dry bulk carriers, made up of two Capesize, eight Kamsarmax, and two Supramax vessels. This diversified mix allows the company to operate efficiently across different shipping segments.
In addition to fleet optimization, G E Shipping has contracted to acquire two secondhand Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers and one Suezmax crude tanker, all of which are expected to join the fleet by Q3 FY26. These acquisitions will strengthen the company’s carrying capacity and enhance its presence in both the crude and dry bulk markets.
