Ester Industries Limited, one of India’s leading polyester film and specialty polymer manufacturers, has announced a major step forward in sustainable innovation. Its joint venture company, Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Private Limited (ELITe), formed in partnership with Loop Industries, has signed an agreement with a group of sellers for the acquisition of land near Surat, Gujarat.
The land will be used to set up India’s first Infinite Loop™ chemical recycling plant with an estimated project cost of ₹1,600 crore. This greenfield facility will recycle polyester textile waste into virgin-quality PET resin, directly supporting a circular economy in polyester.
Planned with an initial capacity of 70,000 metric tons per year, the project has provisions to expand by an additional 100,000 metric tons in the future. Strategically located in the Petroleum, Chemicals, and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) of Surat, the site offers easy access to polyester textile waste, a skilled workforce, and a deep-water seaport for exports.
Designed with sustainability at its core, the Infinite Loop™ India facility will run on nearly 80% clean renewable energy and biofuels. The recycled PET resin is expected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional petroleum-based PET.
