Deepinder Goyal has announced that he will step away from his role as Group Chief Executive Officer of Eternal, marking a major leadership transition at the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit. Subject to shareholder approval, Goyal will continue to remain on the company’s board as Vice Chairman.

Eternal said Albinder Dhindsa will take over as the new Group CEO, ensuring continuity in leadership as the company enters its next phase of growth.

Explaining his decision, Goyal said he has increasingly found himself drawn toward a new set of ideas that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation. According to him, these ideas are better pursued outside a listed public company like Eternal, where leadership roles demand a sharp and singular focus.

Goyal noted that Eternal, as a public company, needs to remain focused and disciplined, while continuing to explore growth opportunities that are closely aligned with its existing businesses. He added that the expectations placed on a public company CEO in India require undivided attention, something he believes is essential for Eternal’s long-term success.

By transitioning into a Vice Chairman role, Goyal said he will continue to support the company at a strategic level, while freeing himself to pursue entrepreneurial experiments beyond the group’s current scope.

The appointment of Albinder Dhindsa as Group CEO is seen as a move to maintain operational momentum, particularly as Eternal sharpens its focus on food delivery, quick commerce, and related platform-led businesses.

The change marks the end of an era for Eternal’s day-to-day leadership under Goyal, while signalling a clear separation between public-market execution and high-risk entrepreneurial exploration going forward.
