Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Ltd (BCSSL) has successfully completed and received formal sign-off for a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Proof of Concept (POC) project with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The POC was executed at BSNL’s MINDI Exchange in Visakhapatnam, marking an important step in the development of next-generation enterprise broadband services in India.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Orange Business Services and focused on an enterprise-grade deployment of BSNL’s 5G FWA solution. BCSSL implemented a Broadband Network Gateway (BNG)-based subscriber management framework, moving beyond conventional tunnel-centric approaches such as GRE. This architecture is designed to support scalable and commercially viable broadband services suitable for large enterprises and internet service providers.

The BNG-driven design enables carrier-grade subscriber authentication, dynamic IP address allocation, Quality of Service enforcement, and smooth integration with BSNL’s billing and Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) systems. Unlike GRE-based tunneling, which is mainly used for traffic encapsulation, the BNG architecture provides native broadband session control and policy enforcement. This ensures higher scalability, operational reliability, and readiness for future commercial rollout of 5G FWA services.

The POC validated the complete 5G ecosystem, including access network, core network, radio infrastructure, and customer premises equipment, under real-world field conditions. All planned test scenarios related to throughput, latency, jitter, session establishment, and connection stability were executed successfully and met the predefined key performance indicators.

The solution also demonstrated seamless interoperability across QuadGen RAN, HPE Core, and BSNL’s existing transport, BNG, and AAA systems. The entire project was supervised and technically validated by BSNL’s internal teams, who have formally signed off on the completion of the POC.
