Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a significant order from Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) for the execution of an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) package for the 2×660 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant at Hasdeo Thermal Power Station in Korba West, Chhattisgarh.

The Letter of Intent (LoI), dated March 27, 2025, was formally acknowledged by BHEL and disclosed to stock exchanges on Friday. The contract, valued at approximately ₹11,800 crore (excluding taxes and duties), has been awarded through a domestic competitive bidding process.

The scope of the project includes the supply of key supercritical components such as the boiler, turbine, generator and their auxiliaries, along with electrical systems, instrumentation and control (I&C), and balance of plant (BOP) packages. It also covers the complete erection and commissioning works, as well as associated civil works.

BHEL is expected to complete the project within 60 months, targeting commercial operations thereafter. The project is considered a major addition to BHEL’s order book and reinforces its leadership position in the domestic power generation equipment market.

The company clarified that there is no related party transaction involved and no interest from promoter groups in the awarding entity.

This development highlights the ongoing momentum in India’s thermal power infrastructure expansion and is expected to further boost BHEL’s performance outlook in the coming years.
