Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has announced that it has received a major Notification of Award (NOA) from NTPC Limited, marking another significant milestone in India’s power sector expansion.

The order, valued at over ₹6,650 crore (excluding GST), has been awarded for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) package of the 1×800 MW Darlipali Supercritical Thermal Power Project, Stage-II, located in Sundargarh district, Odisha. The award notification was received on November 6, 2025.

According to BHEL, the project will be executed under international competitive bidding, though it is a domestic contract awarded by NTPC Limited, a Government of India enterprise. The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply of equipment, erection, commissioning, and civil works—covering the complete EPC cycle.

The completion of facilities (COF) is scheduled within 48 months from the date of the NOA, aligning with NTPC’s broader plan to enhance India’s thermal power capacity with advanced, high-efficiency technology.

Both BHEL and NTPC are Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under the Government of India, and BHEL has clarified that the order does not fall under related party transactions.
