Bharti Airtel Limited has disclosed that it has received a penalty notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Karnataka LSA, for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms.
According to the company’s filing, the DoT conducted a Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit for July 2025 and found discrepancies related to subscriber verification under the terms of the license agreement. Based on the audit findings, a penalty of Rs 2,13,000 was imposed on the telecom operator.
The notice was received on September 15, 2025, and Airtel confirmed that it has opted not to contest the penalty and will pay the amount. The company clarified that the financial impact of the order is limited to the penalty levied, with no material effect expected on its operations.
The DoT regularly conducts such audits to ensure compliance with licensing conditions, particularly around customer verification before onboarding subscribers.
