Airtel, a leading telecommunications provider in India, has partnered with the Indian Army to bring much-needed connectivity to remote villages in North Kashmir. This collaboration aims to enhance communication along the Line of Control (LoC) in the districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipore.
As part of the initiative, Airtel has deployed 15 mobile towers in strategic locations, offering essential connectivity to local residents and soldiers stationed along the LoC. This will improve both personal communication for families and operational coordination for the military.
In alignment with the PM Vibrant Village Programme, villages like Kachhal, Balbir, Razdan Pass, and Taya Top are now linked to the rest of the country. Located in the Keran, Machhal, Tangdhar, Gurez, and Uri valley regions, these villages are crucial for the region’s development and security.
Airtel stands as the only private telecom operator providing services in these challenging terrains, ensuring seamless connectivity where others do not reach. In addition, the partnership with the Indian Army has expanded Airtel’s network services to military bases in remote areas. Recent achievements include connecting the Galwan River region and Daulat Beg Oldie (BDO), India’s northernmost military post.
